Adviser Accreditation

Adviser Accreditation
All Advisers must be registered with the sbas service and Accredited by the NFEA.The first stage of Accreditation is Registration. The Registration process caters for a wide range of Adviser operational models, from Advisers dedicated to a single office to Advisers covering multiple offices with multiple email addresses!

Registration Process - Single LEA Office

  • Enter your First and Last names
  • Select your office
  • Enter your Email Address (Dont change the main address checkbox)
  • Add any personal telephone/fax numbers
  • Save the office details
  • Note that the office has been added to the "your office(s) drop down
  • Now select your generalist subjects.
  • Enter your specialist subjects.* See new notes below
  • Register

If you make a mistake it is best to use the Reset button and start again because the page you are using is dynamic and building address and office lists in memory. The Reset button clears all hidden data.

Specialist Routing
Any specialist topics you enter are recorded in a Directory of Skills available to all Advisers. When an Adviser needs to reroute an enquiry for which they lack the necessary level of skill, they can select your entry from the Directory of Skills and forward the Enquiry for you to process. Your response will be copied to the original Adviser as well as the enquirer in order to enhance the skills of the network.

Registration Process - Multiple LEA Office
If you cover more than one LEA office area then you should Register for all offices where you will be accepting enquiries. Before you start, decide which office will be your Main contact email address.
Follow the same process as above but clear the Main contact checkbox if the address you are entering is notyour main Email address. Note that once you have specified and saved a Main address the checkbox will no longer be set on by default - also you cannot store two main addresses.
You must use the Save button to store details before picking the next office!
When you have selected and specified your offices, move onto the Specialist topics and select your generalist and/or specialist topics and then Register.
Tip If you forget where you are up to registering multiple offices you can use the lower drop down list of offices to pick and review your settings.

Registration Process - What next?
When you Register, your details are processed by the sbas service. The system checks to make sure you are not already registered at an LEA office, it records your details against each registered office with a status of "pending accreditation" and it Emails a copy of your Registration informtion to the NFEA.
The NFEA then contact the Chief Executive of each office you have registered for and request confirmation of registration details (an essential step to stop unauthorised users assuming Adviser status!).

When the NFEA has received confirmation from the Chief Executive(s) they advise the service and your status is changed to Operational, your logon PIN number is assigned and you are automatically Emailed to confirm your Accreditation, your Logon Email address and PIN number.

Note It is essential that you use extreme care when specifying your email addresses or you will not receive your Accreditation notification, Enquiries and other information!
